Annual conference

This year (academic year 2021/22) marks the 44th annual conference of the Historical Society of Israel. The conference includes all universities and research bodies in the country. More than one hundred historians participate every year.

Every year, a different university in Israel hosts the annual Historical Society conference, fulfilling the vision of the Historical Society as a uniting body for all researchers of history in Israel. An academic committee organizes the conference, which covers topics of historical, research and current importance. At each conference, there are between sixteen and twenty speakers, including junior as well as senior researchers. The conference is open to the public, which allows for a broad discourse. Among the conference themes in recent years: Charity, Compassion and Helping Others; Crime, Law and Enforcement; and, Bread and Wine: Food Throughout History.
