Jews in Modern Britain – Within, Without, and Inbetween
10 Jan 2021

Organized jointly by The Historical Society of Israel and the Jewish Historical Society of England (JHSE), the conference, which convened on Zoom, with over one hundred participants, discussed topics related to Judaism in England in modern times. The presentations in the first session mapped out the different subjects while those in the second were devoted to practical applications and the ensuing challenges raised by the new research. While the focus of the research was on the area of London, other topics included crime and Jews in Britain, Jewish women and the suffragette movement, and Jews and sports. The conference offered a platform for renowned Anglo-Jewish historians as well as emergent scholars from Britain and the world.
