Following the success of the first Study Day, we are delighted to invite early-career scholars to participate in the Second Study Day on the History of Emotions.
We welcome proposals for presentations that engage with different approaches to the history of emotions. Papers may address methodological and theoretical questions or present research projects at various stages of development.
The Study Day is open to historians working on the history of emotions, from MA students whose thesis proposals have been approved to scholars who have submitted their doctoral dissertations within the past five years. We encourage submissions on a broad range of topics, including, but not limited to:
• Emotions and material culture
• Emotions in public and urban spaces
• Emotions and the body
• The history of the senses
• Theoretical and methodological approaches to the history of emotions
• Emotional communities and emotional regimes
• Emotions and personal and collective identities
• Emotions in childhood, youth, and old age
• Emotions in times of war, violence, and crisis
• Emotions and memory
Please submit an abstract of up to 250 words, together with a short biographical note, via the link below by 20 October 2026.
The Study Day will take place on 21 December 2026.
Organizing Committee: Prof. Orit Rozin, Dr. Emma Zohar, Adi Savion, Yael Robinson Gottfeld, and Lotan Levy.
