The Mendelsohn–Frankel Prize Ceremony for Outstanding Books in the History of the Jews of Eastern Europe of 2026 took place on July 6, 2026, at the offices of the Israeli Historical Society.

The ceremony was chaired by Prof. Israel Bartal, and the Mendelsohn–Frankel Prizes were awarded to Prof. Rachel Manekin, Dr. Semion Goldin, and Dr. Merav Reuveni.

Remarks were delivered by Prof. Shmuel Feiner and Prof. Eli Lederhendler, who reflected on their personal and professional connections with the two distinguished scholars after whom the prize is named—Prof. Ezra Mendelsohn and Prof. Jonathan Frankel. For some of the award recipients, the occasion also marked a meaningful full circle, as they had themselves studied under these eminent scholars and have continued their scholarly legacy.

The ceremony also offered an opportunity to learn about the research behind each of the award-winning books. In addition, participants enjoyed a short lecture by Prof. Galman, dedicated to the history of Eastern European Jewry and focusing on the relationship between rabbinic leadership and Jewish communities in the face of modernization processes.
